Animal Control was created in 1919 and is responsible for educating citizens of Oakland County about pet ownership in conjunction with the laws of the State of Michigan. Specific services include:Animal bite investigationsEnforcement of stray animalsLicensing of dogs for 28 municipalitiesInvestigation and payment of livestock killsCoordinating local rabies vaccine clinicsConducting annual dog censusCruelty complaints against animalsOperating and maintaining an animal shelter for municipal services areas and seven contracting municipalities
